Pair of cake baskets, silver, 19th century
Title
Pair of cake baskets, silver, 19th century
Description
A set of two identical "cake baskets" which are also known as "bridal baskets" owned by the Hutter family. Cake baskets were used to hold small pastries, breads, fruits, etc. at formal dining events. There are no hallmarks which means it is most likely silver plated. Due to the style of the pieces, they are from somewhere in the late 19th to early 20th century.
