My dear Risque,
I left Lynchburg last Wednesday and arrived here this morning. In Richmond I wrote you a letter which will probably not reach you until after this one. I came north for the purpose of acquiring your release and also in connexion with matters of business. I saw the letter to Pa in charge of Dr. Morris whom I met at Burkeville. I hope you are well all at home are very well. My dear Nannie and Johnny are at Mr. Langhorne’s. I rented a house in Lynchburg and will begin housekeeping as soon as I can get my furniture over. I was paroled in Danville under the terms given to Johnston’s army. I will leave here tomorrow for New York and will stop a day at Easton. In Richmond I left an application for your release in the hands of Bob Ridgeway who said he would get it signed and forwarded by General Richards. Write to me at Easton. Our cousin W. H. let me know of you and anything. I want to get you to Va with me. I traveled from Richmond with Col Powell who was a prisoner with you. He and his wife came on here. Every body sends much love to you. I sent to Dr. Ward’s for your horse & Pa has it at Sandusky. I hope to see you soon.
Believe me your attached Brother E. S. Hutter
