Waiter, silver, 1894 - 1962

Description

This is called a silver waiter, as it is smaller and lighter than a typical tray or salver. It is sized to be easy to carry one drink or dish with a single hand during silver service. There is a hallmark on the back of the waiter that reads K.S.Co with an image of a colonial man preceding it. This is the mark of the Knickerbocker Silver Company which was established in Port Jervis, New York in 1894 and continued to produce silver products until they were taken over by Crescent Silverware Mfg. Co. Inc. in 1962. Below that hallmark is etched “C128” which refers to the pattern and product in the Knickerbocker catalog. The final back mark reads "Sheffield Made in U.S.A.” which indicates
